The Daikin Altherma Compact combines a heat pump for heating and cooling, while allowing the option of connecting a solar system. The innovative design has an integrated storage tank alongside the heat pump components, which is primarily heated by free solar energy. If no or insufficient solar energy is available, the heat pump automatically switches on and heats the storage tank to the desired operating temperature, which is regulated according to the ambient and room temperature. This mode of operation allows the solar energy to be intercepted first (for domestic hot water as well as for heating), before the heat pump is switched on further if necessary. If the need arises, an electric heater can be installed at the same time to provide a stable source and permanent support to the air/water heat pump.
A complete heating system for different buildings
The Altherma Compact heat pump achieves a heating water outlet temperature of up to 65 °C, which is sufficient for radiator heating in well-insulated older buildings. It has long since ceased to be the case that heat pumps are only suitable for new buildings with a flat-plate heating system, but their use is moving into the field of radiator heating of buildings and the renovation of such heating systems. The pump has an integrated 300 or 500 litre storage tank, with a flow heating system for domestic hot water. The flow system prevents the development of harmful micro-organisms, so that the sanitary water heated in this way is the most hygienic.
